All About Draft Content Schemes
Content Scheme FAQs
In Create, organizing your content drafts efficiently is key to maintaining a smooth workflow, especially when managing multiple social media accounts or marketing projects. That's where Content Schemes come into play. Content schemes categorize your drafts into specific types, helping you better manage your processes and collaborate with your team. Below, we’ve answered some frequently asked questions about our content schemes to help you better understand how to use them.
To learn how to set a default Content Scheme, see the step-by-step instructions HERE. What are Content Schemes?
A Content Scheme is the first field in your draft form. It helps categorize your content drafts within Create by identifying what type of content you are working on and the workflow that should be applied. Each scheme has its own specific features and workflows, designed to help manage your content creation and approval processes more effectively.
There are 4 main content schemes in Create:
- Social Content Plan
- Social Media Post
- Instant Post
- Other Deliverable
Each scheme serves a unique purpose, depending on the complexity of your workflow and the type of content you’re producing.
What is the Social Content Plan Scheme?
The Social Content Plan scheme is designed for structured workflows that require a more rigorous approval process. This draft type uses status changes to control actions, such as scheduling, and locks certain options based on the draft's status.
For example, scheduling a post may be restricted if the draft is not marked as “Approved”. This is ideal for teams that have a formal content planning regimen and want a clear, organized process for approval and publishing.
Best For:
- Teams or larger organizations with a structured content planning process.
- Collaborative workflows where multiple team members need to review and approve content.
- Managing content in a sequential and controlled manner to ensure consistency and approval before going live.
What is the Social Media Post Scheme?
The Social Media Post scheme is designed for quick and flexible workflows. This draft type allows you to make changes and take actions (such as editing, scheduling, or publishing) at any time, without being restricted by draft statuses.
This is perfect for smaller teams or individual social media managers who need to move quickly and don’t require the rigid structure that the Social Content Plan scheme offers.
Best For:
- Teams or larger organizations with a structured content planning process.
- Collaborative workflows where multiple team members need to review and approve content.
- Managing content in a sequential and controlled manner to ensure consistency and approval before going live.
What is the Instant Post Scheme?
The Instant Post scheme is ideal for content that needs to be published immediately. If you have a piece of content (with media and copy ready to go) that you want to post quickly, the Instant Post scheme allows you to do so without the need for planning or approval workflows.
NOTE: Instant Posts can only be published to a single social media profile at a time. This is perfect for urgent content that is typically not part of a pre-planned content strategy but still needs to be tracked within your overall content calendar.
Why would I use Instant Posts?
- When you need to publish content immediately without waiting for approval or scheduling.
- For spontaneous content that isn’t part of your long-term content plan but should still appear on your calendar.
- When you already have copy and media ready and don’t need to go through the planning process.
What is the Other Deliverable Scheme?
The Other Deliverable scheme is a general category designed for content that doesn’t fall under the typical social media post types. This can include a wide range of marketing materials, such as:
- Flyers
- Blog posts
- Profile headers
- Infographics
- Documents
- and other non-social media deliverables
This scheme helps you keep track of all your content that isn't necessarily tied to a specific social media channel but still needs to be organized and monitored within Create.
Best For:
- Marketing materials that aren’t tied directly to social media (e.g., print ads, blog posts).
- Keeping track of other types of deliverables across teams and departments.
- Organizing content that needs to be created and reviewed outside of the typical social media workflows.
How Do I Choose the Right Content Scheme?
When deciding which content scheme to use, consider the following questions:
- Is this content part of a larger content plan? If yes, the Social Content Plan scheme might be your best choice.
- Do you need flexibility and speed? If you want to move quickly with minimal restrictions, the Social Media Post scheme may be more suitable.
- Do you need to publish something immediately? For urgent content, Instant Post is the way to go.
- Is this content not related to social media? If you're managing non-social media deliverables, use the Other Deliverable scheme.
